Implementing a Technology-Enabled Credit Review Function at Large Fintech

A large fintech banking enterprise needed stronger independent oversight of its credit portfolio. Regulators expected more robust governance, consistent credit risk ratings, and disciplined underwriting and portfolio management practices aligned with OCC and FDIC standards.

We helped design and implement the Credit Review function, embedding oversight across the first and second lines of defense. Central to the effort was deploying a technology platform to track credit decisions, monitor portfolio quality, and provide transparent reporting. Governance structures and review processes were streamlined to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.

The enterprise gained a technology-enabled Credit Review capability that strengthened governance and delivered real-time visibility into credit risk. With improved data, reporting, and oversight, the bank met OCC/FDIC requirements, reduced regulatory exposure, and positioned itself for scalable growth under tighter supervision.
